Top units

IndiTop
The indication unit IndiTop is designed as a simple and easy to use, electrical feedback unit for Alfa Laval sanitary valves. It is compatible with all major PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) digital input cards. It is for use in food, dairy and brewery installations and in biopharmaceutical applications. The unit is mounted on the valve actuator “mushrooms” with two Allen screws and on the valve stem. Once setup either by the quick and easy “5 push setup” or remotely from the PLC, the unit will be able to send feedback about the valve position through a fixed cable.

Sensor System
IndiTop is a unique “No Touch” sensor system without any mechanical adjustments. A magnet is mounted on the valve stem and the magnetic field (axial) is detected by sensor chips inside the sensor unit. The measuring angle from each chip is used to locate the current position of the valve stem with an accuracy of ± 1mm. Note that the distance to the magnet can be 5 mm ± 3 mm.

Feedback Signals
IndiTop is capable of providing two 2 PNP/NPN digital feedback signals in both DC and AC.
Selection of PNP or NPN is done by wiring.
Visual indication through LEDs are constantly displaying the current valve position and power (ON/OFF)

ThinkTop D30
The new ThinkTop D30 valve control unit is a compact and convenient alternative to solenoid valves and micro switches because of its simplicity in construction and predefined setup.
The ThinkTop D30 is a compact control unit which is mounted on top of the process valve. The integrated solenoid valve controls the connected process valve and the integrated pressure switch monitors the status of the valve by monitoring the operating air pressure.

ThinkTop Basic
The ThinkTop® Basic is designed to ensure optimum valve control in conjunction with Alfa Laval sanitary valves and it is compatible with all major PLC systems (Programmable Logic Controller) with a digital PNP/NPN interface. It is for use in food, dairy and brewery installations and in biopharmaceutical applications. The ThinkTop® Basic fits all air operated valves from Alfa Laval.

The ThinkTop® Basic is a basic control head including sensor unit and solenoid valves to control processing valves. It is used to control and supervise pneumatic valves and is mounted on top of the valve. It receives signals from a PLC to control the solenoid valve and it sends the valve status feedback signals back to the PLC. To adapt the sensor unit to the specific valve, the users make a simple set-up by using local keys.

Sensor System
The sensor system is the well known and approved “No Touch” principle from the ThinkTop® platform without any mechanical sensor adjustments.
A magnet is mounted on the valve stem and the magnetic field (axial) is detected by build in sensor chips inside the sensor unit. The measuring angle from each chip is used in calculations to locate the current position of the valve stem. There can be programmed 2 PNP or 2 NPN feedback signals. The selection of PNP or NPN is done by a jumper on the sensor board itself. The LEDs are constantly indicating the status of the unit: Valve position, solenoids activated, set-up and local fault indication.



ThinkTop

The ThinkTop® is a control head including indication units and solenoid valves to control all kinds of processing valves. It is used to control and supervise pneumatic valves and it is mounted on top of the valve. It receives signals from a PLC to control the valve and it sends feedback signals to the PLC to indicate when the valve is in a certain position.
To adapt the sensor unit to the specific valve and to the application, the user sets up the ThinkTop® either by the local keys or by using the key pad (which is ordered separately). When using the key pad it is not necessary to dismantle the top unit.

Sensor System
Unique “No Touch” sensor system without any mechanical sensor adjustments. A magnet is mounted on the valve stem and the magnetic field (axial) is detected by sensor chips inside the sensor unit. The measuring angle from each chip is used to locate the current position of the valve stem with an accuracy of ± 0.1mm. The sensor system can be used for 4 feedback signals + 1 status signal = 5 digital PNP/NPN feedback signals. Selection of PNP or NPN is done by a jumper. 2 of the feedback signals can be external sensors if necessary.

The status signal is used for detection of the following:
Set-up is in progress.
Internal error.
Maintenance is required (based on time and/or the self adjustment programme).
The LEDs are constantly indicating the status of the unit: Valve position, solenoid activated, setup and local fault indication, maintenance and seat-lift.
